Session 5 - Alphabet

Explore the objectives of this session and the ordered sequence of games connected to it.

Grammar objectives

Ask "How do you spell…?", answer letter by letter, and use "It starts with…". Move from single words to short full sentences by the end of the session.

Action objectives

Hear a letter and find, form or run to it; spell short words aloud while moving. Played out in Form Letters and Order the Alphabet.

Lexical objectives

Letter names and sounds in English, plus the letters needed to spell your own first name.

Introduction

First time: Since this is the first lesson, we take some time to introduce the teachers: their names, countries of origin, and the languages they speak. We say: My name is.../I am from.../I can speak... If the children are already sitting calmly, we begin immediately with our introductions. If not, we form a large circle by holding hands and go into a smaller circle all together (we repeat this a few times). Then we sit down in the circle and introduce ourselves. The children also introduce themselves by repeating “My name is…” while we clap and tap our thighs in rhythm, going around the circle.

Letter Making

Two teams race around a cone and then form the letter shown on the flashcard using their bodies. First team to shout the correct letter wins a point!

Order the Alphabet

Divisez les enfants en deux groupes 👥 et donnez à chaque groupe des cartes alphabétiques mélangées 🔠. Les enfants doivent trier les lettres dans le bon ordre alphabétique et le premier groupe à remporter la partie.

Revision

Réunissez les enfants 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 et évaluez leur compréhension 🤔✅ du sujet abordé pendant la leçon, ainsi que leur capacité à l'utiliser 👍🗣️. Traduisez ensemble les mots anglais en français 🇫🇷. Donnez à chaque enfant, éventuellement en cercle ⭕, l'occasion de dire ce qu'il a appris 🗣️✅, en permettant à ceux qui sont moins sûrs 🤔 de répéter les mots déjà prononcés 🔁🗣️.
